CD Projekt Red admitted to "ignoring signals" about problems with Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox and PS 4
Against the backdrop of harsh criticism from Cyberpunk 2077 players, the management of CD Projekt Red held a conference call with their investors and parties interested in the development of the team's projects. According to the transcript of the negotiations, the president of CD Projekt Red, Adam Kiciński, confirmed that work on the PC version of the game was actively carried out until release, and little time was allocated to develop and test versions of the game for game consoles.
It turned out that CD Projekt Red actually had to release a "raw" version of Cyberpunk 2077 on the previous generation consoles due to the inability to understand what was needed to allocate additional developer resources for this task as well. Due to the pandemic and remote work, the main part of the project teams corrected and tested the version for the PC, and many teams of game testers were curtailed in their operational capabilities to provide data to developers. That is why the studio did not show the gaming community examples of gameplay on the Xbox One and PS4 consoles before the release of the game.
Also, the studio management said that initially, they did not consider the issue of the need to increase developers and provide additional time for current teams to release the product on the previous generation game consoles. The studio admitted that it was a mistake that cost a lot, although there were all signals about this, both from the console manufacturers when certifying different versions of the game, and from the testers.
“After three delays in the game, we, like the board of the company, were too focused on releasing it. The studio underestimated the scale and complexity of many of the problems, the management ignored the signals about the need to provide additional time to finalize the game on the current and next generation game consoles. This has led to a loss of trust among gamers, and because of this our reputation has suffered, ”said Adam Kichinski.
The studio executives explained that although they lost confidence among some of the players due to such a difficult launch of different versions of the game, the company hopes to rectify the situation in early 2021. The studio also believes that some users of the Xbox One and PS4 consoles will soon be able to buy new generation consoles and in this case, will receive a version of Cyberpunk 2077 on them for free if they have already bought it on old consoles.

The Cyberpunk 2077 game page on OpenCritic even has a special warning that this game is not suitable for Xbox One and PS4 consoles.
Please note that performance, player reviews and ratings vary significantly across PC, PS4, Xbox One and next-gen consoles. The OpenCritic team and some critics believe that the game developer, CD Projekt Red, deliberately tried to hide the state of Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 and Xbox One, allowing only pre-recorded gameplay to be used in reviews and not releasing the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game for review.
On December 14, CD Projekt Red published an open letter to Cyberpunk 2077 players, in which it said that in February 2021 it plans to fix versions of the game for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. In addition, the studio promised to return the money to the players for the faulty version, applications for refund will be accepted until December 21.
